About Blair Athol Distillery

Over its lifetime, the distillery mostly produced whisky for blends, most prominently for the Bell’s brand of blended Scotch. After the launch of Bell’s in 1896, the whisky became such an important part of the blend that Arthur Bell & Son took over in the 1930s and continued to run it until its sale to Guinness Group in 1985.

The distillery is still active and is now owned by Diageo. The current capacity is around 2.8 million litres per annum and its distillery visitor’s centre – located on the main A9 thoroughfare between Edinburgh and Inverness – is one of the most visited in Scotland.
