About Glen Elgin Distillery

Glen Elgin was the last distillery built in Speyside during the whisky boom of the 1890s, which meant it faced a challenging start, being mothballed twice in its first five years of operation. It was only when it became a part of Scottish Malt Distillers in 1930 that the distillery really took off and its quality was recognised in blends, most especially the famous White Horse blended Scotch. It is still active and is owned by Diageo. The current capacity is around 1.8 million litres per annum.
